Genesis - Chapter 5

From Adam to Noah

From Adam to Noah

1️⃣ The Line of Adam

This chapter records the family line from Adam to Noah, showing how humanity continued to grow after the fall.

When God created humans, He made them in His image — male and female — and blessed them.

2️⃣ Adam’s Family

  • Adam was 130 years old when he had a son named Seth, who looked and lived much like his father.

  • After Seth, Adam had many other sons and daughters, and he lived to be 930 years old before he died.

3️⃣ Seth’s Line

  • Seth had a son named Enosh at age 105.
He lived another 807 years, having more children, and died at 912.

  • Enosh had Kenan at 90, lived 905 years total, and died.

  • Kenan had Mahalalel at 70, lived 910 years, and died.

  • Mahalalel had Jared at 65, lived 895 years, and died.

  • Jared had Enoch at 162, lived 962 years, and died.

4️⃣ The Unique Story of Enoch

Enoch stands out — he lived a close, faithful relationship with God for 365 years.

Then, instead of dying like the others,

“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him.”

This means God took him directly to heaven, showing that death isn’t the end for those who walk closely with Him.

5️⃣ From Methuselah to Noah

  • Methuselah, Enoch’s son, lived 969 years, the longest life recorded in the Bible.

  • His son Lamech lived 777 years.

  • Lamech had a son named Noah, saying:

“He will comfort us in our hard work and the painful labor of farming this cursed ground.”

After that, Lamech had more children, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth — the three men from whom all later nations would come.

Summary in Today’s Terms

  • Genesis 5 bridges the story between Adam and Noah.

  • It shows that, even though death entered the world, life continued through generations.

  • Enoch’s story reminds us that a close walk with God leads to life beyond death.

  • Humanity was spreading, working, and struggling under the effects of sin — but God’s plan for redemption was still unfolding through Noah’s line.

Finance - 3 - Be Wise with What You Have

Be Wise with What You Have God doesn’t just bless us with resources — He calls us to manage them wisely . Wisdom in finances isn’t about how much you have but how you use what’s been trusted to you. The Bible says in Proverbs 21:20 , “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” In today’s language, that means: smart people save and plan ahead, but careless spending leads to stress and regret. In today’s world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of instant gratification — the latest phone, new clothes, fancy coffee, or online impulse buys. But God invites us to live differently. He teaches us to think long-term , to plan, and to avoid being controlled by money or possessions. True wisdom isn’t about chasing wealth; it’s about using what you already have with purpose . Financial wisdom includes budgeting, saving, giving, and staying away from unnecessary debt. It’s about saying, “God, how do You want me to use what You’ve given me?” When we manage mone...

Health - 2 - Food: What to Eat and What to Avoid

2. Food: What to Eat and What to Avoid When God created the world, He didn’t leave us clueless about how to take care of our bodies. From the very beginning, God gave guidance on what fuels us, what harms us, and how food affects not just our bodies—but our minds and spiritual strength too . 2.1. What to Eat: God’s Blueprint for Fueling the Body In Genesis 1:29, God gives humanity its first diet: “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” This tells us something simple: God designed natural, whole foods to keep us healthy. In today’s terms, this looks like: Fresh fruits Vegetables Nuts and seeds Whole grains Fish (mentioned throughout Scripture as common, clean food) Clean meats listed in Leviticus 11 (animals that chew the cud and have split hooves, certain birds, and fish with fins and scales) These foods give your body: Energy Stable blood sugar Better digestion Strong immunity Bett...
