Genesis - Chapter 3

The Temptation

The Beginning of Trouble

1️⃣ The Temptation

One day, the serpent (a clever and deceitful creature) spoke to Eve in the Garden.

It said,

“Did God really say you can’t eat from any tree in the garden?”

Eve answered,

“We can eat from any tree — except the one in the middle. God said if we eat or touch it, we’ll die.”

The serpent replied,

“You won’t die! God just knows that if you eat it, you’ll understand good and evil — you’ll be like Him.”

Eve looked at the fruit.
It looked beautiful, tasty, and promising.
So she took some and ate it.
Then she gave some to Adam, who was with her, and he ate it too.

2️⃣ The Awakening

Right after eating, their eyes were opened.
They realized they were naked and suddenly felt shame.
They quickly sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.

3️⃣ Hiding from God

Later that day, they heard God walking in the garden.
Afraid, they hid among the trees.

God called out,

“Where are you?”

Adam said,

“I heard You coming, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.”

God asked,

“Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree I told you not to?”

Adam replied,

“The woman You gave me — she gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Then God asked Eve,

“What have you done?”

Eve said,

“The serpent tricked me, and I ate it.”

4️⃣ The Consequences

God spoke to each one:

To the serpent:

“Because you did this, you’ll crawl on your belly and eat dust.
There will be hatred between you and the woman — and between your offspring and hers.
One day, her descendant will crush your head, though you’ll strike his heel.”
(This points forward to the idea that good will ultimately defeat evil.)

To Eve:

“You’ll have pain in childbirth,
and though you’ll desire your husband, he’ll rule over you.”

To Adam:

“Because you listened and ate the fruit,
the ground is now cursed.
You’ll have to work hard to grow food,
and someday you’ll return to the dust you came from.”

5️⃣ Leaving the Garden

God made clothes from animal skins for Adam and Eve to cover themselves — showing care even in judgment.

Then He said,

“They’ve become like Us, knowing good and evil.
If they eat from the Tree of Life, they’ll live forever in this fallen state.”

So God sent them out of the Garden of Eden to work the land.
He placed angels and a flaming sword at the entrance to guard the Tree of Life.

Summary in Today’s Terms

  • The serpent represents temptation and deception.

  • Adam and Eve’s choice introduced sin, shame, and separation from God.

  • It explains why the world now includes pain, hard work, and death.

  • But it also shows hope — God still cared for them and promised that one day, evil would be defeated.

Finance - 3 - Be Wise with What You Have

Be Wise with What You Have God doesn’t just bless us with resources — He calls us to manage them wisely . Wisdom in finances isn’t about how much you have but how you use what’s been trusted to you. The Bible says in Proverbs 21:20 , “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” In today’s language, that means: smart people save and plan ahead, but careless spending leads to stress and regret. In today’s world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of instant gratification — the latest phone, new clothes, fancy coffee, or online impulse buys. But God invites us to live differently. He teaches us to think long-term , to plan, and to avoid being controlled by money or possessions. True wisdom isn’t about chasing wealth; it’s about using what you already have with purpose . Financial wisdom includes budgeting, saving, giving, and staying away from unnecessary debt. It’s about saying, “God, how do You want me to use what You’ve given me?” When we manage mone...

Health - 2 - Food: What to Eat and What to Avoid

2. Food: What to Eat and What to Avoid When God created the world, He didn’t leave us clueless about how to take care of our bodies. From the very beginning, God gave guidance on what fuels us, what harms us, and how food affects not just our bodies—but our minds and spiritual strength too . 2.1. What to Eat: God’s Blueprint for Fueling the Body In Genesis 1:29, God gives humanity its first diet: “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” This tells us something simple: God designed natural, whole foods to keep us healthy. In today’s terms, this looks like: Fresh fruits Vegetables Nuts and seeds Whole grains Fish (mentioned throughout Scripture as common, clean food) Clean meats listed in Leviticus 11 (animals that chew the cud and have split hooves, certain birds, and fish with fins and scales) These foods give your body: Energy Stable blood sugar Better digestion Strong immunity Bett...
